Sarita is the Deputy Head for the School of Psychology and Computer Science at UCLan.
Sarita has investigated the psychobiology of behaviour
over the last twenty years, specifically focusing on how the brain
functions (or doesn’t) when we face life-threatening events.

In her chapter of the book Sarita asks, what makes a superhero? Is it the ability
to fly? To have super strength? Access to advanced technology? Or does it take more than a superpower or special equipment? To really understand what makes a hero, we need to look beyond their superpowers and understand their psychological make-up. Being a superhero is more than just having enhanced abilities or access to alien technology. It is about being able to put others first, being fearless in the face of adversity and having the ability to carry on when all seems lost.
