Catherine is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Forensic Applied Sciences at the University of Central Lancashire.

Catherine (also known as Cat) is a Forensic Scientist and loves having the same job title as Barry Allen a.k.a. The Flash. She also enjoys running (but definitely not at Flash speeds!).

She investigates evidence that might be found at crime scenes, to pinpoint what something may be and what it may say about the case at hand. When Cat isn’t experimenting in the lab, she loves  throwing ingredients around in the kitchen to make themed cakes, learning to play lots of musical instruments and following her curiosity on whichever new adventure takes her!

Cat’s chapter looks at some of the skills that characters like Superman or Captain Marvel possess, and question if superhumans could actually exist outside of a comic book or film franchise. Are those stories just tales to thrill an audience, or is there any basis in reality? Could anyone ever become a superhuman?
